3. The NY Jets could target Jared Goff

Detroit Lions signal-caller Jared Goff is a different type of QB option. On one hand, Goff's 8-8 Lions travel to Green Bay with a 17% chance of landing the final AFC playoff spot. This success has led to reports that Detroit views their current QB as more than a bridge to the next guy.

However, the Lions' young roster and plethora of draft assets, combined with Goff being just halfway through a massive four-year, $134 million contract have led to speculation that the Lions would be wise to capitalize on their QB's 2022 success to move off this financial commitment as they seek to build a complete roster.

Perhaps Detroit saves money by electing to cut Goff outright, (saving them $20.6 million with $10 million in dead money) or perhaps they seek a trade partner. Regardless, if the former No. 1 overall pick is available, the Jets should monitor his market closely.

Much like Geno Smith, Goff represents a distinct upgrade. The former Cal star has already thrown for 29 touchdowns to go along with just seven interceptions. His 100.1 QB rating is the best on this list while his 64.9% completion mark is more than serviceable.

By all accounts, the Jets have a deeper roster than the Lions, particularly on defense. It is also worth noting that Goff led his Rams team to the Super Bowl in 2018. If Goff has Detroit teetering on the edge of the playoffs, imagine what he could do with the Jets.
