The NY Jets' roster has been almost entirely rebuilt under the guidance of general manager Joe Douglas. Nearly every player under contract has been added during Douglas' tenure, save for a few Mike Maccagnan holdovers.
The result is a younger roster that seems primed for success in the short and long-term future. Of course, the Jets will have to prove that's the case with results on the field, but it's hard not to be encouraged by some of the young talent on the Jets' roster.
While Douglas' first draft with the organization looks pretty poor in hindsight, his second class in 2021 features numerous players who the Jets expect to serve as franchise cornerstones for the foreseeable future.
The 2021 season was just the prelude to what the Jets hope this franchise will become. It wasn't always pretty last season, as is often the case with a young team, but the Jets saw enough promise to believe in the future of many of these players.
Last year the foundation was laid. This year, the Jets want to see results.
For that to happen, quite a few players on the roster will have to take significant steps forward in their development. For the purpose of this list, we're only going to be discussing second-year players.
Let's take a look at three second-year Jets who are primed for big seasons in 2022.
