1. NY Jets target: Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati

Alec Pierce has been quickly moving up the draft board and his performance at the NFL Combine has teams taking notice. He is considered to be an "athletic freak" who also possesses elite speed. Pierce has been clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.33 seconds.

Pierce attended Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn Illinois and was named the MVP of the West Suburban Conference. He was a three-star recruit and chose the University of Cincinnati over numerous other schools. Pierce is described as a true possession receiver who has a knack for finding open space within a defense.

In his senior year at Cincinnati, Pierce caught 52 passes for 873 yards at an impressive rate of 17.3 yards per catch. The Bearcats featured a predominately run-style offense which makes his overall statistics look even that much more impressive. Pierce completed his college career with 106 receptions and a massive 1,851 receiving yards.

Pierce has displayed intelligence both on the field and off. He graduated from Boise State with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He accomplished this in only three and a half years. Pierce is the first Cincinnati player to be selected Academic All-American since 1997.

Pierce demonstrates the skill set needed to become a successful receiver in the NFL. At 6-foot-2 and 208 pounds, he has excellent blocking skills in the running game and is not afraid to use his body to box out defenders.
