If there's one person who knows a thing or two about transforming the culture of a losing franchise, it's former NY Jets cornerback and current Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Glenn spent 15 years in the NFL and was an important part of the Jets' turnaround under Bill Parcells before entering the coaching world and engineering a turnaround of his own as a part of the Lions organization.

Now, the longtime NFL cornerback and assistant coach finds himself as the center of head coach rumors and is expected to be a hot commodity this offseason. The Jets are one of the many teams expected to be interested.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reported on an episode of the “Flight Deck Podcast" this week that Glenn is "really interested" in the Jets' vacant head coach position. The feeling seems to be mutual, with the Jets expected to pursue Glenn as a candidate this offseason.

"Now, I have not talked to Aaron [Glenn] in quite some time, but I can tell you that he really is really interested in the Jets position. I think he’d love to talk to them about it. He interviewed with the Jets in 2021. I think at that particular time, he was just getting on the head coaching radar, but obviously, his stock with the Lions’ success is at an all-time high."

Aaron Glenn might be the next NY Jets head coach

As Cimini notes, Glenn previously interviewed for the Jets' head coach job back in 2021 before the team hired Robert Saleh, but that was the first cycle he garnered genuine head coach interest.

Glenn was still the defensive backs coach for the New Orleans Saints the last time he interviewed for the Jets. He's since developed a reputation as one of the best assistant coaches in the NFL, leading a Lions defense that's overcome multiple key injuries this season.

Not only does Glenn's ties to the Jets organization make him an obvious candidate, but he also fits the criteria the franchise is looking for. The Jets are hoping to find a culture-changer this offseason. Glenn can be that guy.

He was a part of the Jets during the abysmal Rich Kotite years and was around to help Parcells transform the culture of the organization. He later did the exact same alongside Dan Campbell in Detroit.

Glenn has played a significant role in overhauling the culture of arguably the NFL's two most infamous losing franchises. He's helped change the culture twice already — why not a third time?

The Jets will do their due diligence this offseason as they conduct their head coach search, but Aaron Glenn appears to be one of the early frontrunners. There's strong mutual interest between the two parties.
