The New York Jets may have lost their opening game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they confirmed one thing that fans have been craving for years: this will be an exciting team to watch week in and week out. Heading into a Week 2 battle with the heavily favored Buffalo Bills, there's real hope that the Jets could pull off an upset.

But one player will need to be at his best if that's going to happen. Running back Breece Hall had one of the best games of his career last weekend, eclipsing 100 rushing yards and adding an explosive element as a receiver. This new-look offense has put the fourth-year back in a position to finally return to his 2023 form.

He might be the most important player on the field against the Bills. If Hall and the Jets' rushing attack fails to control the pace of the game, Josh Allen will make them pay.

Breece Hall will be crucial for the Jets in Week 2

We saw last week what Allen can do when he's given time. The MVP led his team to an electric 41-point performance against a Baltimore Ravens defense that was supposed to be one of the best in the league. If the Jets aren't careful, the Bills could do the same to them.

The answer? Limit how much time Allen gets with the ball in his hands. New York's offensive line and rushing attack looked incredible against a talented Steelers front. They should be able to take advantage of Buffalo's weak defense and control the clock throughout the game.

But they can't do that if Hall doesn't perform at a high level. The former second-round draft pick had more carries in Week 1 than he had in any game last season. His seven first downs on the ground were one short of matching a career high.

The Iowa State product's combination of vision and explosiveness made him one of the most dangerous weapons on the field, forcing the defense to account for him on every play.

After an offseason of uncertainty, it's clear that this is his backfield. Now the weight is on his shoulders against a division rival. The Jets aren't going to win in a shootout against the Bills.

As impressive as Justin Fields was in his first game in green, he can't singlehandedly keep up with Allen over the course of a game. New York will need to manage the clock to perfection, ensuring that Buffalo's time of possession is limited. If they can, they could pull off the upset of the year.
