Jets sink so low even Jamal Adams is pitying them on social media

The NY Jets are beyond being just a bad team. They are now a pathetic, rudderless organization with no head coach or general manager, and they may need to switch owners. The trifecta of organizational dysfunction is officially complete after the firing of Joe Douglas.

The Jets gave Douglas six seasons to turn them into a winner. Despite adding players like Aaron Rodgers and pulling off the best draft class in Jets history with his first four 2022 selections, Douglas' team wasn't winning enough to save his job.

Rather than dance on the Jets' grave, like every media voice out there seems to be doing right now, former Jets first-round pick and Seattle Seahawks trade acquisition bust Jamal Adams is burying the hatchet and rooting for his former team to get back on the right track.

Adams tweeted that he "really hope the Jets organization can get it right" after Douglas' firing, saying the organization and fanbase "deserves to win" after years of losing. The Jets are so pathetic that even an old enemy like Adams is starting to wish for their success.

Adams left the Jets on the worst terms possible. Not only did he burn bridges by demanding a trade, but he continued to badmouth the organization after being traded to the Seattle Seahawks. This trade was perhaps Douglas' biggest win as GM of the Jets, as he turned those two first-round picks into Alijah Vera-Tucker and Garrett Wilson.

Douglas' legacy remains complicated. While he was clearly better at picking players than either Mike Maccagnan or John Idzik, he also has a worse record than both of them. Douglas got six seasons to enact his vision, and he failed to even manage a winning season.

Douglas' ineptitude has now extended the Jets playoff drought, assuming they miss it again this year, to 14 seasons in a row. If the Broncos and Falcons make the playoffs this year, only the Jets and Panthers will have playoff droughts longer than four years.

The Jets are now so bad the rancor is all but gone. Pity is settling in. Even Adams doesn't see the Jets as worthy of everyone's scorn.
