It's been a difficult season for Aaron Rodgers and the NY Jets, but the four-time MVP has still managed to put up some impressive numbers. As the Jets enter their Week 17 game against the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers is on the verge of NFL history.

With 499 career passing touchdowns, Rodgers is just one shy of becoming the fifth player in league history to reach 500. Only Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571), Peyton Manning (539), and Brett Favre (508) have achieved this milestone.

Davante Adams, who caught Rodgers' 200th and 400th career touchdown passes, hopes to be on the receiving end of No. 500 as well. "Obviously, I'd love to," Adams told reporters on Friday.

Despite the challenges of this season, Rodgers is on pace to finish with one of the best statistical campaigns in Jets history. On Sunday, he has the chance to solidify his legacy with yet another historic achievement.

Other NY Jets news:

Greg Zuerlein is back

The Jets will be making another kicking change this Sunday. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich told reporters on Friday that Zuerlein would be activated off the injured reserve and will be the team's kicker this weekend.

Zuerlein has missed the last seven games with a "left knee injury" but was designated to return from IR this week. The 37-year-old connected on just 9-of-15 field-goal attempts in eight games with the Jets, making just one kick from longer than 40 yards.

The Jets have rotated through a series of kickers in Zuerlein's absence, going from Riley Patterson to Spencer Shrader to most recently Anders Carlson. Carlson started strong but missed three kicks in his last two games, including an extra point last week.

Zuerlein still has one year remaining on his contract and an impressive finish to the season could be enough to convince the Jets to bring him back in 2025. The team is certainly hoping the time off was enough to provide a mental reset.

Jets head coach job is not very attractive

ESPN's Bill Barnwell recently ranked the nine expected head coach openings in order of attractiveness to potential candidates, and the Jets came in at a lowly eighth out of nine vacancies.

The only team to be ranked below the Jets was the New Orleans Saints, whose overall roster and salary cap situation are no doubt a concern to prospective candidates. The Jets, however, aren't much better.

While Barnwell praised the Jets' young core, the team was dinged for dysfunctional ownership, an uncertain quarterback situation, and a less-than-stellar cap situation — made worse by said quarterback situation.

It's clear that Barnwell and many others view Woody Johnson as a significant obstacle in the Jets' search for their next head coach. Only time will tell if that proves to be true.
