NY Jets fans serenade Aaron Rodgers with boos as team somehow reaches a new low
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets' offense continues to find ways to reach new lows this season. The 2024 Jets are a living, breathing representation of the famous BoJack Horseman quote.
"I've had a lot of what I thought were rock bottoms, only to discover another, rockier bottom underneath." No quote has ever represented a football team more, and the Jets are proving that in their Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
While the Jets were able to put together a scoring drive on their final possession of the first half, it was a struggle to move the ball before that. How much of a struggle? A historic struggle.
The Jets failed to pick up a first down on their first five possessions. That's the first time the Jets have accomplished such a feat since a December game against the New England Patriots in 2005. Yes, it's been nearly 20 years since the Jets' offense has been this incompetent. That should be impossible.
The NY Jets offense is as bad as it's ever been with Aaron Rodgers at QB
There was a point in this game in which Rodgers had completed 4-of-7 passes for three yards. Rodgers quite literally had more completions than passing yards. Everything has gone wrong with the offense, and the fans at MetLife Stadium are letting the team know it.
Rodgers and the Jets were met with a chorus of boos that grew louder with each passing drive without a first down. When the Jets recorded their first first down of the game with under two minutes remaining, the fans at MetLife erupted with ironic cheers for their least favorite football team.
We've reached the point in the season where Jets fans are ironically applauding their team for completing the simplest of tasks, also known as Chris Streveler time.
It should not be possible for the Jets to be this bad. We've seen countless abysmal Jets offenses over the years with putrid quarterback play, disgusting offensive line performances, and inept coaching staffs. Almost all of those teams were expected to be bad.
Somehow, this is the worst it's ever been. The Jets entered the season with a Hall of Fame quarterback and Super Bowl aspirations. Instead, Aaron Rodgers is leading the worst Jets offense in decades. Make it make sense.
