The NY Jets are set to usher in a new era for the organization in 2025, one that will be led by former star cornerback and new head coach Aaron Glenn.
A former Jets captain and respected defensive mind, Glenn brings energy, experience, and a fresh vision to a team looking to turn the page after years of inconsistency. While his hiring represents a homecoming of sorts, the real work begins now as he attempts to assemble the right coaching staff.
Glenn has wasted little time assembling his staff, already securing key hires on both sides of the ball. The Jets appear to be prioritizing NFL playing experience among their coaches, mirroring the strategy used by Glenn’s former staff in Detroit.
The Jets are also saying goodbye to the vast majority of their holdover staff from 2024. Some of their now-former coaches have already landed high-profile jobs, such as Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich.
This tracker will be used to keep you up to date on every addition made to the new-look Jets coaching staff as well as the destinations of former coaches.

Aaron Curry | Linebackers Coach | Inside Linebackers Coach - Pittsburgh Steelers |
Chris Harris | Defensive Backs Coach/Passing Game Coordinator | Defensive Pass Game Coordinator/Cornerbacks Coach - Tennessee Titans |
Chris Banjo | Special Teams Coordinator | Assistant Special Teams Coach - Denver Broncos |
Aaron Glenn's first coaching staff in New York will be led by offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, and special teams coordinator Chris Banjo, who will oversee their respective units.
Engstrand is a first-time NFL play-caller who has been an assistant for the Detroit Lions over the last few years. Not only does he have an obvious connection with Glenn, but he also shared a quarterback room with Jets general manager Darren Mougey for a year at San Diego State in 2004.
Wilks is an experienced NFL coach and likely the most notable addition to Glenn's staff. A former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers (interim), Wilks most recently served as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator in 2023.
Banjo joins the Jets with a firm Mike Westhoff stamp of approval. A former NFL safety, Banjo played under Glenn in New Orleans and was seen as a protege of Westhoff's in Denver. This will be his first stint as a special teams coordinator.
The Jets have hired Detroit Lions tight ends coach Steve Heiden to be their new offensive line coach. Heiden is a former NFL tight end who did work as an assistant offensive line coach with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.
Wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson is the only known holdover from the 2024 staff to remain with the organization. Jefferson will quietly have served under three different Jets regimes, as he was previously the team's wide receivers coach under former head coach Adam Gase as well.
The Jets parted ways with defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton and brought in former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Eric Washington to be his replacement. Washington is another experienced assistant who has been a DC for multiple NFL teams.
The Jets were able to poach former top-five pick Aaron Curry away from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Curry, who was under contract as the Steelers' inside linebackers coach, has left to join Glenn's staff as the Jets' linebackers coach.
The team has also replaced highly-regarded cornerbacks coach Tony Oden with former NFL safety Chris Harris. Harris will be the Jets' defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator after previously filling a similar role for the Tennessee Titans.

Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich are both returning to familiar territory, with Saleh serving as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator and Ulbrich taking over as the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.
Jets running backs coach Tony Dews is off to New England to fill the same role for New York's division rival. Top defensive assistant Aaron Whitecotton has been hired as the Dallas Cowboys' next defensive line coach.
Linebackers coach Mike Rutenberg has followed Ulbrich to Atlanta to serve in the same role. Don't be surprised if Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood, a pending free agent, is recruited by the Falcons this offseason.
Tony Oden and Chris Harris essentially swap places, with the former on his way to Tennessee to join Brian Callahan's Titans staff. The New York Giants have hired Marquand Manuel to be their new defensive backs coach.
Longtime Jets special teams coordinator Brant Boyer has followed Saleh to San Francisco. Boyer had been with the Jets since 2016, surviving three different regimes. Chris Banjo has been hired to take his place.
