The New York Jets are far from a championship roster in what will be the first season of the Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey era, but they did land a satisfactory new starting quarterback for the 2025 campaign (and possibly beyond) when they lured Justin Fields away from the Pittsburgh Steelers with a two-year, $40 million contract.
The Jets' offense, as currently constructed, may not give Fields the best shot of proving what he can do as the team's starting quarterback. In addition to some defensive tackle help, New York would do well to add some skill-position talent next to Fields.
Should the Jets use what is left of their allocated free agency budget on a left tackle who could replace Morgan Moses, they could help build a lethal offense around Fields in this NFL Mock Draft.
New York Jets 3-round NFL Mock Draft after Justin Fields signing
Round 1, Pick 7: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
Warren has emerged as not only the best player in a very deep tight end class, but he looks like a player who likely is not going to escape the Top 10. The Jets, who passed on Brock Bowers last year, could replace Tyler Conklin and give Fields a robust No. 2 target in his debut season.
Warren will be an immediate receiving threat in the pros, even if he many never rise above the rank of "decent" as a blocker. With how often Fields targeted tight ends in the past, getting a player like Warren to replace Tyler Conklin makes too much sense.
Round 2, Pick 42: Elic Ayomanor, WR, Stanford
While Ole Miss' Tre Harris may emerge as the leading candidate to become the top wide receiver in this class once the consensus Top 4 (Tetairoa McMillan, Matthew Golden, Emeka Egbuka, Luther Burden III) are off the board, Ayomanor is close behind. Despite route-running and separation concerns, Ayomanor's physical profile could be very intriguing.
With solid speed, a physical nature that makes him both a red zone weapon and solid blocker for a run-heavy offense, is seems unlikely that Ayomanor will be able to escape the first two rounds. The Jets haven't had any luck with mid-round receivers over the years, but they need to keep taking swings on players like Ayomanor in this range.
Round 3, Pick 73: Alfred Collins, DT, Texas
The Jets don't need an All-Pro next to Quinnen Williams at the defensive tackle spot, but they need multiple additions on the interior. Collins is never going to pile up tons of sacks, but he should be a rock-solid run-stuffer who plays on early downs the moment he enters the league.
Collins, who was a former 5-star recruit that came to the Longhorns with plenty of hype, could be a quality starter in this league if he makes even a small improvement as a pass rusher. If Collins does his job and takes some pressure off of No. 95 on the inside, Williams can be in for another All-Pro season.
