The NY Jets polished off one of the finer NFL Draft classes during Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey's first go-around, as the first three rounds produced budding stars like right tackle Armand Membou, tight end Mason Taylor, and cornerback Azareye'h Thomas.
Those who obsess over the Jets' aesthetics will be happy to know that this collection of youngsters has finally selected the numbers they will wear during their rookie seasons. Those who want to preorder jerseys can finally do so knowing that many of them will have the correct number on the back.
Some of these numbers will obviously change between now and the beginning of the season, but some strong selections will likely stick for the remainder of their time with the Jets. Which rookie made the best choice, and which one needs to wait until final cuts to pick a better number?
NY Jets 2025 rookie jersey numbers
Note: These numbers are subject to change
Player | Number |
---|---|
Armand Membou | 70 |
Mason Taylor | 46 |
Azareye'h Thomas | 23 |
Arian Smith | 82 |
Malachi Moore | 27 |
Francisco Mauigoa | 51 |
Tyler Baron | 94 |
With Membou's college No. 79 taken by Chukwuma Okorafor, he decided to opt for No. 70. Expect to see that number at right tackle for a very long time. Thomas went for a classic cornerback number with his college No. 8 not available. Taylor's No. 46 looks ghoulish for a starting tight end, but he could reclaim his No. 86 if Neal Johnson is cut.
Smith choosing No. 82 is a minor surprise, as fellow undersized speedster wide receiver Xavier Gipson wore the number last season. Could that be a hint at what is to come? Moore's choice of number could be a bit ominous as fellow Crimson Tide alum and mega bust Dee Milliner also wore No. 27.
Despite the fact that they were the last two picks in this class, Miami alums Mauigoa and Baron picked up some premier number choices. Mauigoa's No. 51 was sported by Jets greats like Jonathan Vilma, Ralph Baker, and Greg Buttle, while Baron's No. 94 was once worn by fringe Hall of Famer John Abraham.
These numbers can change, as Sauce Gardner wore No. 20 in rookie minicamp while Breece Hall sported No. 35. However, some strong early choices have been made.
