Say what you will about the NY Jets and high-priced acquisitions like Aaron Rodgers and Tyron Smith. At least they have shown up on time and put forth a solid effort this season. Pass rusher Haason Reddick, on the other hand, has made headlines for sitting around doing nothing at home instead of helping the Jets compete.

Between now showing up to the team for the first six weeks of the season, demanding a trade before ever making his presence felt, and refusing to elaborate on what went wrong to the media, Reddick has become a complete headache. His play on the field has in no way justified all the noise.

The odds of the Jets bringing Reddick back were slim after the well became so poisoned. Per the latest rumors from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, it seems like both parties are more than happy with a parting of ways just a few months after the Jets traded a third-round pick for Reddick.

According to Fowler, Reddick's mindset as the season draws to a close is to "get as many sacks as he can and get out" of New York. After the season he's had with the Jets, it seems unlikely that anyone will be very sad to see him go.

Reddick has just one half-sack on the season in four games, as he has received limited playing time in his return to the lineup. Even with Will McDonald evening out after such a hot start, he has still been the best defensive end on this team despite a former Pro Bowl player like Reddick arriving in town.

Reddick has been in hot water from the start. While the Jets deserve some blame for not giving Reddick a contract right after the Eagles traded him with the knowledge he wanted a new deal, it's also not out of line to expect a player contracted to play for your team to show up.

Reddick's mindset is part of why the Jets have fallen as far as they have this season. Everyone is checked out. Players are either playing to get their individual stats up or looking forward to a payday in free agency. Reddick, who never meshed with the Jets, is doing both at the same time.

The Jets will be remaking their roster ahead of the 2025 season, and there's no chance that Reddick will be among the returning veterans.
