The New York Jets might have been the worst team in the NFL during the 2025 season, which puts new coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey behind the eight-ball as they try to undertake the monumental task of getting this team back to the playoffs.

At least the Jets have more picks of consequence in the 2026 and 2027 NFL Draft to help them dig themselves out of the hole they have created. Can this be the team that finally turns it around?

If so, Mougey will need to look at these holes and correctly identify them as the biggest areas of need on the roster.

Jets 5 biggest team needs to fix in NFL Draft

5. Safety

Malachi Moore has shown some promise, but the Jets can't enter the year with him as the unquestioned best player at the position. Free agency might be a better way to address this need, especially since the class outside of Ohio State's Caleb Downs is thin.

Top 50 targets: Dillon Thieneman (Oregon), A.J. Haulcy (LSU), Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (Toledo)

4. Linebacker

Jamien Sherwood's regression was startling, and Quincy Williams was so poor that it makes one wonder how invested he was from an effort perspective. Rather than pay two veterans top dollar, the Jets could look for a much younger option to play next to Sherwood.

Top 50 targets: Sonny Styles (Ohio State), C.J. Allen (Georgia), Anthony Hill Jr. (Texas)

3. Wide Receiver

Garrett Wilson is the star, and even though Adonai Mitchell had some flashes after arriving in town, the Jets need one more big name to complete their wide receiver room. One of their top-50 picks should be used on a wideout, as the free agency class looks thin.

Top 50 targets: Makai Lemon (USC), Denzel Boston (Washington), KC Concepcion (Texas A&M), Chris Brazzell (Tennessee), Elijah Sarratt (Indiana)

2. Edge Rusher

Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson were both bitterly disappointing in the 2025 season, and the Jets' lack of a pass rush is perhaps the biggest reason that they were unable to even record any interceptions on the year. The lack of depth behind those two is equally alarming.

Top 50 targets: David Bailey (Texas Tech), Keldric Faulk (Auburn), Matayo Uiagalelei (Oregon), TJ Parker (Clemson), Cashius Howell (Texas A&M)

1. Quarterback

It seems like a virtual certainty that New York is going to use the No. 2 pick on a quarterback. The only question seems to be if Dante Moore will be the pick or if Fernando Mendoza will slide down.

Top 50 targets: Fernando Mendoza (Indiana), Dante Moore (Oregon), Ty Simpson (Alabama)
