NFL Network’s Adam Rank might be higher on the New York Jets than just about anyone. And to those who remember his prediction for the Jets' 2024 season, that might not be a surprising revelation.

Despite a 2024 season that spiraled into disaster and a new regime clearly focused on building for the future, Rank recently projected the Jets to finish 10-7 in 2025 with Justin Fields leading the way at quarterback.

He revealed the prediction this week on NFL Network, a prediction that included surprise wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1’s revenge game, the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, and even the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos in back-to-back matchups.

The Jets are fresh off a highly disappointing 2024 season that saw the team finish 5-12 despite entering the year with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. Just ask Rank, who projected the Jets to finish 11-6 a year ago at this time.

Expectations in Florham Park are cautious entering 2025, but if Rank is proven right, this Jets team could make one of the most unexpected playoff pushes in franchise history.

Could Justin Fields and the Jets win 10 games in 2025?

The Jets entered 2024 with lofty expectations and a future Hall of Famer under center. Instead, they collapsed to a 5-12 finish, despite Aaron Rodgers starting all 17 games.

Robert Saleh was fired after just five weeks. General manager Joe Douglas didn’t last much longer. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich was in over his head, and the locker room unraveled as the team stumbled to its worst record since 2021.

That disaster understandably prompted a full organizational reset. New head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey were brought in to shift the culture and hopefully stabilize the franchise.

Their approach this offseason made it clear what the expectations for 2025 should be. Rather than making splashy, short-sighted moves, the Jets signed just two players to multi-year deals, including Fields, who was acquired on a two-year, $40 million contract to replace Rodgers.

Fields remains a question mark, but the Jets believe we still haven't seen the best of him yet. They’re counting on a potentially top-10 offensive line, a talented running back group, and a revamped offensive scheme under new coordinator Tanner Engstrand to get the most out of the former first-round pick.

Still, the organization knows this isn’t a Super Bowl-or-bust season. The hope is growth, and perhaps a glimpse of what the future could look like if Fields puts it all together.

But if Rank is right, the Jets might just be ahead of schedule in their rebuild, and Fields might be the biggest reason why. A little summer optimism never hurt anybody, right?
