We had to have known it was coming, right? Since the New York Jets parted ways with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, fans had to have seen this from miles away.

The 2025 opponents were already announced for the Jets and, to this day, Rodgers still has not made an official decision upon where he will play (or if he'll play) in the coming year.

Yet, when one particular schedule leak lit social media on fire, fans finally had the answer to their questions.

A rumored leak has the Jets hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1; a date where Rodgers' revenge tour could officially begin.

Aaron Rodgers' NFL future is all but confirmed after the Jets' latest schedule leak

We have been waiting all offseason long on Rodgers to make a decision on his future. And, while he has admitted to battling some personal stuff in his life, fans are also waiting on bended knee to hear a final answer.

The Steelers are still without a legitimate option under center. At the moment, it's Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and rookie sixth-round pick Will Howard on the depth chart.

If the Steelers think they're going to ride into the season with that depth chart, they're kidding themselves.

In fact, I don't believe that's their plan whatsoever -- nobody does.

We all know Rodgers is eventually headed to Pittsburgh, and so does the league. If the Jets are opening the season against the Steelers, that tells us all we need to know. It's a done deal. Rodgers will be a Steeler.

And, at the same time, Justin Fields will be getting his shot at revenge against the team that opted to let him go. It'll be his first-ever chance at a revenge game, which should make this interesting.

The fact that it could also be against Rodgers is even more intriguing. Fields is, of course, familiar with Rodgers after having played for the Chicago Bears and taking him on back during his days with the Green Bay Packers.

Oh, the drama.
