Tyrod Taylor isn’t putting up monster numbers, but he’s done exactly what the New York Jets need from him since taking over as the starting quarterback. Taylor has been a reliable presence, helping stabilize a young, inconsistent offense while giving his team a genuine chance to win games.

Sunday’s 27-24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons was arguably his best performance as a Jet. Taylor finished 19-of-33 for 172 yards and a touchdown, added eight carries for 44 yards and a rushing score, and delivered multiple clutch throws down the stretch.

Taylor spoke to reporters on Wednesday, and when asked about what his NFL future holds, the veteran quarterback dropped an all-time banger of a quote.

"I’m in the moment, man. Tomorrow’s not born. Yesterday’s dead."

It was the latest installment in what has quietly been an especially endearing year of Jets quotes. Breece Hall gave us the instant classic "Teams shoot themselves in the foot, then we come back and shoot ourselves in the head" following a loss to the Miami Dolphins earlier this year.

Aaron Glenn gave us the halftime classic of “We’re killing ourselves" following the Jets' first-half performance against the Buffalo Bills in September. Now, Taylor has added his own entry into the Jets’ quote-of-the-year competition.

Will the Jets re-sign Tyrod Taylor in the offseason?

Taylor’s performance on Sunday seems to back up his mindset. He looked decisive and confident, using his legs to extend plays, finding Adonai Mitchell for a 52-yard touchdown, and keeping the Jets in the game.

What comes next for Taylor is less clear. He’s a free agent after the season and will turn 37 next year. Many expect the Jets to draft a quarterback and revamp their entire QB room in 2026, which could mean Taylor’s tenure lasts only two seasons.

Then again, he’s extremely well-liked inside the locker room, respected as a professional, and exactly the kind of veteran voice a rookie passer could benefit from. His departure isn't a guarantee.

Either way, Taylor’s late-season performances — and his cold-blooded, almost philosophical quote — have cemented why he’s so respected around the league and in the Jets' locker room.

Taylor isn't worried about next year or what the future holds. He’s not dwelling on the past. He’s here providing the Jets with the veteran leadership and on-field reliability that they've desperately been seeking.

And he's also giving fans a lesson or two in life perspective while he's at it.
