The focus of the players and coaches in the building at Florham Park is on the 2026 season. That's the logical approach, as you need to focus on what's in front of you. With that being the main priority for everyone in the building, fans already have their eye on 2027.
The New York Jets own three first-round picks, and people are hoping they land a franchise quarterback with one of those selections. That will be the biggest talking point around the team, but there is another player that fans should get to know, and that's Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore.
ESPN's Matt Miller and Jordan Reid ranked the top five prospects at every position, and they both had Moore No. 1 for CB. Although the quarterback is the most important position, fans should certainly keep their eye on Moore this upcoming collegiate season.

New York's cornerback room could look very different next offseason. Nahshon Wright will be a free agent, and the Jets could cut cornerback Brandon Stephens, which would save this team $8 million in cap space per Spotrac.
That would then leave Azareye'h Thomas and D'Angelo Ponds as the top cornerbacks on the roster. While we still don't know if Ponds or Thomas will be good NFL cornerbacks, Moore has the skillset to be a day 1 impact player.
Moore stands at 6-foot-2 but owns a rare combo of length, speed, and ability to change directions. He's able to thrive in both man and zone coverage with ease and can mirror any receiver. The combination of his length, speed, and ball production will have him as the No. 1-ranked cornerback by most draft experts.
Over two seasons with the Fighting Irish, Moore has recorded 79 total tackles, 18 pass deflections, seven interceptions, and three forced fumbles. He's everything that teams want in a CB1, and he'll get another chance to put these talents on full display.
Of course, this isn't the player that fans are thinking about since he isn't a quarterback. But that doesn't mean he won't be one of the best players in the 2027 class.
While the Jets moved on from their No. 1 CB in Sauce Gardner, they got an offer they couldn't refuse. And depending on where that Colts selection falls, there's a chance they could get the chance to snag Moore.
The cornerback room in New York may look drastically different following the 2026 campaign, which makes the idea of selecting Moore that much more enticing. And fans would be wise to keep an eye on No. 15 for the Fighting Irish this fall.
