The New York Jets have been missing some depth at edge over the last few weeks, with free agent acquisition Joseph Ossai spending time on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp.

Well, Ossai is set to be activated off the PUP, per the New York Post's Brian Costello, a positive sign for the Jets defense that certainly missed his presence as one of its starters. Unfortunately, it will still be some time before we see him back on the practice field, as he'll use the week to ramp up.

"Jets edge Joseph Ossai will be taken off the PUP list today, per source. He won’t practice this week but can begin working his way back and could practice next week," wrote Costello in a post on X.

In other positive news, The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt revealed that No. 2 overall pick David Bailey "has his helmet on and is with the defensive linemen" at the start of practice on Tuesday. It seems he'll be a full participant for the first day of joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While Bailey seems to be just fine and Ossai is about a week away from his return to action, Jets rookie Kenyon Sadiq still seems to be a ways away in his recovery. ESPN's Rich Cimini reported that the young tight end was not practicing, but was doing some physical activity, jogging and running while "observing drills."

All in all, it seems like a relatively positive update in terms of injuries for New York. It's a good thing, too; fans should want to see everyone on the field for the first external competition of the year against Tampa Bay.

Ossai is unlikely to see any action this week, but could be healthy enough in time to see a handful of reps against the Pittsburgh Steelers on August 21.

Bailey, on the other hand, should make Jets fans ecstatic. Not only is he not missing any serious practice time, but he'll get some quality work in against a rock-solid Tampa Bay offensive line over the next two days.

Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs is one of, if not the best, in the league at his position, and Luke Goedeke is nothing to sneeze at right tackle either. It will be quality development time that he needs ahead of his rookie season.
