New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith is currently under investigation after an alleged ex-girlfriend accused him of battery this past Sunday, according to ESPN.

Police in Davie, Florida, arrived on the scene, and no arrests were made. NFL reporter Andy Slater initially reported on Monday that the case was no longer open, but multiple outlets confirmed on Tuesday that the situation is still under review.

Neither Smith nor the Jets organization has publicly commented on the allegations.

A spokesperson from the Davie Police Department issued a statement to ESPN on Tuesday, declining to get into specifics on the case but confirming an investigation was underway.

"We were informed [Monday] evening that, during review, it was determined that this case is being further investigated by detectives. It is active and we cannot release any additional information at this time."

No charges have been announced and no arrest has been made as of Tuesday.

News first broke of the incident on Sunday evening when Smith's alleged ex-girlfriend posted a video to her Instagram with the caption that Smith "beat" her and "hates taking care of his special needs kid."

The video showed Smith and the woman moving in and out of the garage and driveway of his Florida home.

The mother of Smith's six-year-old son later posted her own statement on Instagram, disputing one of the accusations made in the original post. She shared photos of Smith with their child and wrote that he "is and always has been more than capable of taking care of his son."

"Let's kill that narrative. Don't get on the internet bringing my son into your web of dysfunction."

Smith is set to enter his 13th season in the NFL this upcoming season, and first with the Jets since the 2013 second-round pick departed in free agency after 2016.

The Jets acquired Smith via trade with the Las Vegas Raiders in March.
