New York Jets fans entered the 2025 season with real optimism about the team’s offensive line. With a pair of young bookend tackles in Olu Fashanu and rookie Armand Membou, plus an impressive interior trio, there was reason to believe this group could be one of the team’s strengths.

Alijah Vera-Tucker’s season-ending injury threatened to cast a shadow over those hopes, but veteran Josh Myers stepped in and has done an admirable job to this point. The unit has had its ups and downs this season, due in part to some questionable quarterback play, but it's mostly been a strength of the team.

And everything the Jets have been building toward in the trenches came together in the team's 39-38 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. The Jets' offensive line dominated and almost single-handedly paved the way for the team's first win of the year.

Not only was this the best performance by the Jets' offensive line this season, but it was legitimately one of the most impressive showings any Jets offensive line has had in recent memory. The numbers support that claim.

The Jets' offensive line was historically dominant in Week 8

The Jets’ pass protection in this game was about as dominant as you’ll see from any team all season. It wasn’t just the offensive line, either, as the running backs and tight ends chipped in to deliver an outstanding collective effort.

The Jets allowed just three total pressures and zero quarterback hits in Sunday’s win. All five starting offensive linemen posted a Pro Football Focus pass-block grade of at least 69.0, with Joe Tippmann (88.3) and Olu Fashanu (86.9) ranking first and third among all qualified offensive linemen this week.

The last time the Jets finished a game with three or fewer pressures allowed, zero QB hits allowed, and had all five offensive linemen record a PFF pass-block grade of 69.0 was Week 4 of the 2010 season. The Jets did something on Sunday that they hadn't done in 258 games or 5,503 days.

The team was just as dominant in the run game. The Jets totaled over 250 rushing yards in Sunday's game, with the duo of Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis averaging nearly 13.0 yards per carry (12.9) in the second half.

The New York Jets posted a rushing EPA of 0.790 in the second half, the highest mark in the NFL this week by a wide margin. The Cincinnati Bengals (0.658) were the only other team even close, proving just how outstanding New York’s ground game was down the stretch.

This was complete and utter domination by the Jets' offensive line in Week 8. Their pass protection, in particular, reached a level the franchise hasn’t seen in over 15 years. Armand Membou — a key part of this clinic — was just six years old the last time the Jets protected their quarterback the way they did on Sunday.

Performances like this can change everything. The Jets may have finally found their anchor up front — and with it, a reason to believe the season isn’t lost just yet.
