A chance to feel vindicated.

Robert Saleh is a good football coach. He's proven that at various points during his NFL tenure, namely in two separate stints as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator. But he utterly failed as the head coach of the New York Jets, and fans haven't forgotten about it.

After a solid campaign in the Bay Area once again in 2025, Saleh accepted the head coaching position with the Tennessee Titans in the waning hours of the night on Monday. This will give him a chance at redemption. Saleh knows that if he fails again, that'll be it for him as an NFL head coach.

The Titans are putting a lot of faith in Saleh to emerge victorious in an eerily similar situation to the one he was in with New York. While they'll certainly be figuring that out this offseason, the Jets have plenty to figure out themselves.

But things will be put to the test during the 2026 NFL season when these two teams meet.

Jets are set to face Robert Saleh-led Titans during 2026 NFL season

That's right, the Jets will get to face off against the Saleh-led Titans this coming fall. Both finished in last place in their respective divisions, and they're set to go head-to-head in Tennessee at some point next season.

While the NFL schedule won't be released until mid-May, both Saleh and the Jets will have this game circled on their calendars. Two teams of this caliber won't likely be playing on Sunday or Monday Night Football, but perhaps a random primetime game on Thursday Night Football would be in order.

This matchup will be must-see TV, as there is certainly some bad blood between the franchise and its former coach. Saleh, right or wrong, proved this season that he enjoys taking things personally and putting a chip on his shoulder, so he'll certainly be amped for this clash.

Jets fans are eager to see if Saleh has grown from his first go-around as a head coach, where he botched critical things like quarterback development, keeping personalities in check, and keeping the locker room in order.

Aaron Glenn hasn't exactly been a success in New York thus far, but Woody Johnson seems convinced he'll turn things around. The rubber will meet the road when the game begins, however, and this is a chance for Johnson and the Jets to feel vindicated for their decision.

Dunking on Saleh for all of his past mistakes may not seem incredibly relevant at this point, but his shortcomings are a big reason why the Jets are in the position that they are. Getting him back for that by beating him and the Titans next season would be a marvelous feeling.
