The New York Jets will return home to MetLife Stadium for a Week 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The Jets are still in search of their first win of the season following yet another close loss in Week 4, this time at the hands of the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

The Jets have come close on a number of occasions, but the team has yet to break through and notch its first victory of the Aaron Glenn era. The odds will be stacked against them today, but Justin Fields and the Jets remain hopeful.

Their opponents are fresh off a thrilling 40-40 tie against the Green Bay Packers a week ago. Dallas enters this game with a 1-2-1 record and can ill-afford a letdown performance against the Jets. They will ride the hot hand of Dak Prescott as they hope to overcome a number of injuries.

The Cowboys have ruled out five players for today's game: wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (ankle), right guard Tyler Booker (ankle), left tackle Tyler Guyton (concussion), wide receiver KaVontae Turpin (foot), and safety Malik Hooker (toe). Hooker was placed on the injured reserve this weekend.

As for the Jets, they've ruled out cornerback Michael Carter II (concussion) and running back/kick returner Kene Nwangwu (hamstring), who was downgraded from questionable on Saturday. Defensive end Jermaine Johnson is questionable with an ankle injury, although he hasn't practiced in weeks.

Who are the official inactives for both the Jets and the Cowboys today? We've got you covered.

Full inactives list for New York Jets in Week 5

  • CB Michael Carter II
  • RB Kene Nwangwu
  • DE Jermaine Johnson
  • OT Esa Pole
  • DT Leonard Taylor III
  • TE Jelani Woods
  • TE Stone Smartt

Starting nickel cornerback Michael Carter II is out after suffering a concussion last week. The expectation is that Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who was acquired in a trade last month, will make his Jets debut and start in Carter's place.

The Jets will once again be without top kick returner Kene Nwangwu, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Nwangwu returned to practice in a limited capacity leading into Week 4 but was unable to practice at all this week.

The Jets released incumbent returner Isaiah Williams after his Monday night blunders and have elevated former Atlanta Falcons return specialist Avery Williams from the practice squad for today's game.

Unfortunately, the Jets will also be without Jermaine Johnson for another week. Johnson was listed as questionable with an ankle injury but hasn't practiced in weeks. The Jets will roll with a defensive end rotation of Will McDonald, Micheal Clemons, Braiden McGregor, and Tyler Baron once more.

Both Jelani Woods and Stone Smartt are inactive for the Jets today. That means the team will roll with just two tight ends plus fullback Andrew Beck. Wide receiver Tyler Johnson is active after he was a healthy scratch a week ago.

  • WR CeeDee Lamb
  • WR KaVontae Turpin
  • OT Tyler Guyton
  • OG Tyler Booker
  • RB Miles Sanders
  • DE Marshawn Kneeland
  • DT Jay Toia

The Cowboys will be down four of their five starting offensive linemen in today's game. Cooper Beebe is on the injured reserve, while Tyler Guyton and Tyler Booker were already ruled out due to injury.

Starting left guard Tyler Smith was listed as questionable with a knee injury but did not practice all week. Hakeem Adeniji is expected to start in place of him alongside Nate Thomas at left tackle, Brock Hoffman at center, and T.J. Bass at right guard. Terence Steele is the only remaining starter.

Dallas will also be without two of its top four wide receivers, with no CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin. Expect to see plenty of George Pickens and Jalen Tolbert, with some Ryan Flournoy mixed in. The Cowboys elevated wide receivers Jalen Brooks and Jalen Cropper from their practice squad.

The Cowboys will also be without running back Miles Sanders, who was listed as questionable with knee and ankle injuries. Rookie fifth-round pick Jaydon Blue will make his NFL debut and play in his place.

Defensive end Marshawn Kneeland is inactive with an ankle injury he suffered in practice this week. Tyler Smith is technically active, but he will only serve as emergency depth.
