The New York Jets are still in search of their first win under new head coach Aaron Glenn after suffering a humiliating 30-10 home loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.

Coming off that embarrassing performance where they managed just 154 total yards, the Jets need a bounce-back effort against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today to avoid falling into an early 0-3 hole.

This Week 3 matchup is a crucial opportunity for Glenn's squad to finally get into the win column and build some momentum in what's already become a challenging start to the season.

Tyrod Taylor will step in as the new starting quarterback after Justin Fields suffered a concussion in last week's loss. Fields' absence will be one of many injury obstacles the Jets will be forced to overcome this week.

The Jets have ruled out a whopping six players for today's game, leaving them with just one healthy scratch. DE Jermaine Johnson (ankle), WR Josh Reynolds (hamstring), RB/KR Kene Nwangwu (hamstring), DT Jay Tufele (illness), and S Tony Adams join Fields on the Jets' lengthy injury report.

The Jets elevated undrafted rookies Brady Cook and Dean Clark from the practice squad to help mitigate the losses of Fields and Adams. Fortunately for the Jets, their opponents are banged up as well.

Who are the official inactives for both the Jets and the Bucs today? We've got you covered.

Full inactives list for New York Jets in Week 3

  • QB Justin Fields
  • DE Jermaine Johnson
  • WR Josh Reynolds
  • RB Kene Nwangwu
  • DT Jay Tufele
  • S Tony Adams
  • OT Esa Pole

Backup offensive tackle Esa Pole is the lone healthy scratch for the Jets in Week 3. Pole was claimed off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs after roster cut day, but has been inactive each of the first three weeks of the season.

The Jets will rely on a quarterback room of Tyrod Taylor and UDFA rookie Brady Cook with Fields sidelined. It remains to be seen how much time Fields will miss, but he will be out at least this game.

Jermaine Johnson is a massive loss for a Jets team that is hurting for defensive line depth. Expect to see plenty of Micheal Clemons with Braiden McGregor and rookie Tyler Baron mixed in today.

Josh Reynolds, Kene Nwangwu, and Jay Tufele are all set to miss another game. Tyler Johnson, Arian Smith, and Allen Lazard will fill in for Reynolds, Isaiah Davis and Isaiah Williams will replace Nwangwu, and Leonard Taylor III is active again to handle Tufele's snaps.

Tony Adams was a surprise scratch on Saturday, as the third-year safety was listed as questionable and trending toward playing after practicing on Thursday and Friday. Rookie Malachi Moore will start in his place, while UDFA rookie Dean Clark was elevated from the practice squad to provide depth.

Full inactives list for Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3

  • WR Chris Godwin
  • OT Tristan Wirfs
  • RB Josh Williams
  • TE Devin Clup
  • CB Kindle Victor
  • S Rashad Wisdom

The Bucs will once again be without wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) and star left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee), as both players will wait at least one more week to make their 2025 debuts.

Tampa Bay's offensive line is in shambles, as the team also placed starting guard Cody Mauch and right tackle Luke Goedeke on the injured reserve this week. The Bucs' offensive line is hurting entering Week 3.
