The New York Jets have begun to show signs of life and growth following a disastrous 0-7 start to the season. The Jets have won two of their last four games and enter a Week 13 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons with a genuine chance to add a third victory to their season total.
Tyrod Taylor is expected to make his third start of the season, with Justin Fields relegated to backup duty. Taylor played reasonably well in his second start last Sunday, and a repeat performance today could be enough to earn the Jets a victory.
That's partially because the Falcons had struggled mightily themselves. Atlanta snapped a five-game losing streak with a 24-10 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 12, but that victory wasn't enough to return optimism to the organization.
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is out for the season after suffering a partially torn ACL a few weeks ago. Veteran Kick Cousins will make his second consecutive start in today's game, and he'll be down his top wideout. Star wide receiver Drake London will miss another week due to a knee injury.
London, linebacker Josh Woods (hamstring), and linebacker Malik Verdon (shoulder) — who remains on the non-football injury list — have all been ruled out of this week's game, while star right guard Chris Lindstrom is questionable with a foot injury.
As for the Jets, starting nickel cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is listed as doubtful due to a hip injury. Brownlee popped up on the injury report on Friday and was initially listed as questionable before being downgraded to doubtful.
Defensive tackle Harrison Phillips (foot) and wide receiver Allen Lazard (neck) are both listed as questionable. Lazard was a late addition to the injury report on Saturday and didn't miss any practice time this week. Phillips was a full participant on Friday and is expected to play today.

The Jets will be without nickel cornerback Jarvis Brownlee in Week 13 as he is officially inactive due to a hip injury. Brownlee popped up on the injury report on Friday and was initially listed as questionable before being downgraded to doubtful on Saturday.
Expect veteran Isaiah Oliver to step in as the likely starting nickel corner, although the Jets did also elevate undrafted rookie Jordan Clark from the practice squad for extra depth. Ja'Sir Taylor also has plenty of experience in the slot.
The Jets also elevated defensive end Eric Watts, who will be active for the first time this season. Watts played 14 games for the Jets as a rookie in 2024 and will be the team's fourth defensive end today, with both Tyler Baron and Braiden McGregor inactive.
Rookie wide receiver Arian Smith is a healthy scratch for the first time this season. Allen Lazard, listed as questionable due to a neck injury, is active and will play.

Backup linebacker Josh Woods is also inactive due to a hamstring injury. Right guard Chris Lindstrom, who was listed as questionable with a foot injury, is active and will play.
