The New York Jets enter the 2025 season with a very different look and a very different set of expectations. After moving on from Aaron Rodgers this offseason, the Jets are officially beginning a new era under head coach Aaron Glenn.
While playoff hopes aren’t exactly sky-high, the organization is banking on renewed leadership and a hopefully more disciplined approach to finally bring competence and respectability back to Florham Park.
Week 1 brings no shortage of storylines. Rodgers won’t have to wait long to see his old team, as he makes his debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers in one of the most anticipated revenge games in recent memory.
On the other sideline, Justin Fields will line up as Rodgers’ replacement, facing the team that stripped away his starting role last season. Both quarterbacks will debut with their new teams against their former clubs in what promises to be an emotional opener.
The Jets will be hoping to set the tone for their entire 2025 season in this game. Few outside the building expect them to make a serious playoff push in 2025, but an upset over the Steelers would go a long way toward proving Glenn’s team is ready to turn the page.
Who are the official inactives for both the Jets and the Steelers today? We've got you covered.
Full inactives list for New York Jets in Week 1
- WR Allen Lazard
- EDGE Braiden McGregor
- OT Esa Pole
- DT Leonard Taylor III
- TE Jelani Woods
The Jets ruled out two players for their Week 1 game against the Steelers: offensive guard Alijah Vera-Tucker and offensive tackle Esa Pole. Vera-Tucker has been placed on season-ending IR after tearing his triceps, while Pole injured his ankle this week and did not practice on Friday.
Projected starting wide receiver Allen Lazard is a surprise healthy scratch. Lazard figured to be one of the team's starting trio of receivers, but will instead be replaced by Tyler Johnson, who was elevated from the practice squad for Week 1.
Defensive linemen Braiden McGregor and Leonard Taylor III are the odd men out in the team's rotation. Rookie Tyler Baron is active, which is somewhat of a surprise after his underwhelming summer.
Newly claimed tight end Jelani Woods is a healthy scratch. The Jets will still have four active tight ends, including rookie Mason Taylor, Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt, and hybrid fullback Andrew Beck.
Full inactives list for Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1
