The New York Jets are hosting Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. on a Top 30 pre-draft visit, per ESPN's Jordan Reid. It's the seventh pre-draft visit the Jets have had for a wideout this offseason.

The Jets have had a reported interest in the national champion pass catcher, with ESPN's Jordan Reid and Rich Cimini both confirming they've at least heard about New York's infatuation with Cooper.

Among the 2026 NFL Draft's top receiving options, Cooper isn't usually included in the big three, pegged as fourth behind Ohio State's Carnell Tate, Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, and USC's Makai Lemon. But that doesn't change the fact he's routinely mocked as a mid-to-late first-round pick.

If we get to No. 16 on draft night and those first three are already off the board, Cooper may be the right choice for the Jets with their second first-round pick.

Jets hosting yet another wide receiver on Top 30 pre-draft visit

Cooper may not be as explosive a weapon as the other wide receiver prospects, but he may have the best all-around skill set. The Athletic's Dane Brugler noted his physicality in run-blocking in The Beast.

Over his last two seasons at Indiana, Cooper has hauled in 97 receptions, 1,531 yards, and 20 touchdowns. In his junior season, he averaged a whopping 21.2 yards per reception.

The Hoosier would slot in nicely in the Jets receiving core and would likely have the opportunity to make an impact right away. It's not like New York has made any other addition to speak of this offseason.

Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell are the only two proven players on the roster the Jets have at wide receiver, and behind them sits only 2025 fourth-round pick Arian Smith, who had a horrendous rookie season, and return specialist Isaiah Williams.

Expect the Jets to select at least two wide receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft. They're likely to grab one within the top 44 picks, and should feel compelled to take a flier on a Day 3 project as well. Cooper could be the pick at No. 16, and possibly No. 33 if he happens to slide, but that doesn't feel too likely.

One thing is clear with just about a week to go until the Las Vegas Raiders are on the clock: the Jets need wide receivers, and they're taking a lot of time interviewing and getting to know the incoming crop of pass catchers.
