The New York Jets have found their new quarterback in a familiar place: their past. Multiple reports indicate the Jets have agreed to terms on a trade for veteran quarterback Geno Smith, sending a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Raiders in exchange for Smith and a 2026 seventh-round pick.

Smith emerged as a likely quarterback target for the Jets over the last couple of weeks once it became clear that his future in Las Vegas was over. Now, he's returned to the team that drafted him in 2013.

Smith’s career arc has been unlike anything most fans have ever seen. Written off early in his career after a rocky stint with the Jets, Smith spent years bouncing around the league as a backup before finally getting another chance in Seattle.

The West Virginia product managed to completely revitalize his career, reestablishing himself as a capable starting quarterback with the Seahawks. Now, after a failed one-year tenure with the Raiders, he's hoping to accomplish the same back in Florham Park.
