Breece Hall was, in many ways, the focal point of the New York Jets' offense in Week 12, but the team's 23-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens may be remembered more for one unfortunate play.

That play is Hall’s fumble at the 2-yard line in the fourth quarter. The Jets were driving and on the verge of cutting the Ravens' lead to one score, only for Hall to fumble two yards shy of the goal line on a play that essentially sealed the loss.

It was a gut punch on a drive where the Jets finally found rhythm running the offense through Hall, but if anyone expected head coach Aaron Glenn to scold his star running back, they were mistaken.

Shortly after the game, Glenn made it clear where he stands.

"He's my guy. And you know what, s—t happens. You don't want it to happen, but it did. The one thing I didn't want him to do was hold his head down. I know exactly how he felt in that situation. I don't want that player to ever get down on himself."

Glenn specifically framed his reaction around preventing Hall from spiraling, something the coaching staff knows he’s prone to because of how hard he is on himself. Hall even said he needed a moment to gather himself after the play.

"My coaches know me well enough. I'm not the type of player that they really need to yell at or say anything to. They know I beat myself up a lot, and I'm very hard on myself. They kind of give me a moment. All my teammates came over to me and consoled me and everything, which I appreciated them for. They know I don't like to make mistakes."

As Hall said, he isn’t the type of player who needs public reprimands. He internalizes everything, and the Jets know it. Glenn and the Jets seem to be well aware of that.

Despite the fumble, Hall was again the Jets’ most explosive player on the field. His 40-yard catch-and-run nearly carried the offense into the end zone by sheer force of talent. That hasn’t changed. No one on this roster can replicate what he brings.

With Wilson out, Hall is the offense — and defenses know it. The Jets know it too.

Hall has notably improved dramatically on the ball security concerns that defined his 2024 season. After leading the team with nine drops and six fumbles last season, Hall has recorded just two drops and two fumbles in 2025.

The Jets still need his explosiveness. They still need him confident. And they know this offense doesn’t work without him. Glenn's words simply reaffirmed that notion.
