The New York Jets added a major piece to their offense on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting LSU tight end Mason Taylor with the No. 42 overall pick.
Taylor, one of the most productive tight ends in LSU history, brings size, versatility, and reliable hands to a Jets team that badly needed a boost at the position. He also brings a famous name with him, as the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and longtime Miami Dolphins star Jason Taylor.
While Jets fans are understandably excited about the addition, Dolphins fans may not be feeling the same way. Watching one of their franchise icons celebrate a new chapter with a division rival is tough enough. A new viral video making the rounds has only added salt to the wound.
Because after Mason Taylor’s name was called, Jason Taylor delivered a moment Dolphins fans never wanted to see.

Jason Taylor celebrates with new Jets tight end Mason Taylor
In the short video, Mason Taylor stands alongside his family, beaming as he thanks Jets fans and says he cannot wait to get started in New York. Jason Taylor then steps forward, flashes a grin, and says, "Man, it's been a long time since I said this," before leading the entire Taylor family in a loud, unified J-E-T-S chant.
It is a surreal moment — one that Jets fans will love and Dolphins fans probably wish they could unsee. Dolphins fans were already crashing out about the video on social media.
For the Jets, though, it's nothing but good news. Taylor steps into a tight end room that badly needed reinforcements, with Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt previously topping a thin depth chart.
The Jets desperately needed a legitimate starting-caliber player at the position, and now they have one. Taylor’s reliability, versatility, and athleticism give the Jets a long-term weapon at the position and offer Justin Fields a much-needed safety blanket in the passing game.
More importantly, the Jets are starting to build the kind of sustainable offensive infrastructure that has eluded them for years. Whether it is Fields or a future quarterback leading the charge, Taylor figures to be a key piece of the next era in Florham Park.
Even if his path to New York left a few Dolphins fans queasy along the way. Looks like Dolphins fans will have to get used to hearing a lot more J-E-T-S chants from the Taylor family.
