Geno Smith is unintentionally gaining the Jets more respect

This might be Geno's most noteworthy accomplishment all season.

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith can officially add “miracle worker” to the skills section on his resume.

No, Smith hasn’t led the Jets to their first playoff berth since 2010, nor did he secure the team’s first winning record in over a decade.

Not yet, at least.

It’s incredibly easy to say that things could be far worse, especially considering the Jets’ prolonged misery.

However, SB Nation opted not to make Smith, Cade Klubnik, and the Jets’ quarterback room its latest punching bag.

Instead, SB Nation believes the Cleveland Browns currently have the league’s worst quarterback group.

Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson are currently competing for the starting job, with 2025 third-round pick Dillon Gabriel also potentially in the mix.

Jets fans should be pleased by SB Nation’s unintentional Geno Smith compliment

Objectively, SB Nation is accurate, only because the Jets are nowhere near the worst quarterback room.

Say what you want about Smith, but he’s an experienced veteran capable of being a competent starter.

Compare that to the Browns, who are entering yet another season with quarterback questions.

Consider us shocked.

Watson hasn’t been a productive starter since 2020, and he’s dealt with significant injury issues over the last few years.

Things became so bad that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has faced constant questions regarding the Watson trade, which landed the quarterback a fully guaranteed contract.

Sanders might have made the Pro Bowl, but he did so because of his last name and the Pro Bowl’s lack of relevance.

The Cardinals aren’t much better, especially with Jacoby Brissett holding out as he seeks a new contract.

When Jacoby Brissett of all people is holding out, that’s when you know you’re in trouble.

Then, you get into the teams that have accomplished starters who nonetheless face questions about their future.

Tua Tagovailoa looks to get back on track in Atlanta, and Colts veteran Daniel Jones is coming off his own injury-riddled campaign.

Whether or not you’d rather have a healthy Smith over a post-injury Jones is itself an interesting question that won’t have a resolution until much later this year.

It’s refreshing to see that the Jets managed to avoid further insults ahead of what will likely be their 11th consecutive losing season.

Naturally, this means that Smith and either Sanders or Watson will have a must-see quarterback duel in Week 5.

At this point, though, Jets fans almost need to root for that kind of outcome.

What else would have people voluntarily sit through a Jets-Browns game?
