Take a breath, Jets fans.

If you've been on social media for the last few days, you've likely seen the scores of the San Francisco 49ers fans flooding the timeline with non-stop trade pitches and suggestions in hopes of their team eventually acquiring New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

Well, at least for the time being, they can stop. The Jets aren't going to trade Wilson ahead of the November 10 trade deadline, and the star wide receiver isn't interested in demanding out of the team that drafted him No. 10 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He said as much to reporters on Wednesday afternoon. Wilson acknowledged the speculation about a trade, but doubled down on the fact that he wants to be a Jet. He also made it clear that he has a breaking point when it comes to losing, and the way the Jets have lost throughout his career in New York, it seems like we're getting dangerously close to that line.

"I want to be here. I wanna win games, and that's the one thing that we've been missing here. I love it here. Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah, to be completely honest. But I'm hopeful... I've been optimistic for three, four, five years now; that's why these [losses] each weekend hurt a little more."

New York Jets need to do whatever they can to keep Garrett Wilson happy

Wilson, ever the good company man, has always said and done all the right things when standing in front of microphones throughout his career in New York. This year, things have been different.

While he has never come out and said anything negative about his teammates or coaches, he has made it known, after multiple quiet outings in losing efforts over the last few weeks, that he wants "more on his plate." He continued to stress that he just wants to be involved in the offense, at a bare minimum.

“No doubt. I’d be lying if I said it's not. But at the end of the day, it comes down to winning and losing. Throughout my experience, when things go right, I tend to have a part in that, and when it doesn’t, it seems avoidable. That’s my main frustration... but I don’t want it to ever be misconstrued. It all comes from a place in my heart of wanting to win. "

It's clear what the Jets need to do in Week 8 and going forward. They need to start funneling targets to Wilson, for better or for worse. At this point, his happiness is paramount, more so than wins or losses, which affect the outcome of Aaron Glenn's tenure as head coach in New York.

Wilson is a franchise player. The kind of receiver a franchise only has the chance of employing once every two years. Just as much as whoever will be tasked with developing the Jets' next franchise quarterback, their WR1 is arguably just as important as the coaching he'll receive.
