Garrett Wilson absolutely unloads on Stephen A. Smith over blatant Jets disrespect

The New York Jets are staring down the barrel of a fully loaded offseason. There are plenty of questions, but perhaps none greater than who will be the team's quarterback in 2026 and (hopefully) beyond.

While the answer to that question remains unresolved, one thing is crystal clear: the Jets' long-term solution under center isn't on the roster — yet.

The Jets have a prime opportunity to address their glaring need at the most important position in football. They hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and are considered a destination for one of the class's top signal-caller prospects.

Oregon standout Dante Moore has been pegged as one of the best incoming passers and a player who is firmly on the Jets' radar. However, there's yet to be a formal announcement on whether he'll go pro or return to college for another year.

Amid the uncertainty, several media members have weighed in on what they think his next move should be, namely, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.

During a recent segment on First Take, Smith, rather adamantly, urged Moore to stay in school if the alternative option is representing the Jets. Naturally, this drew a reaction from the Jets faithful, including the team's star wide receiver, Garrett Wilson.

Smith said he'd purposely tank his value to avoid suiting up for the Jets if it were him in Moore's shoes. Yet, somehow, that was only the beginning of the analyst's long-winded rant, which Wilson admittedly (and understandably) wasn't a fan of:

"Damn, u gotta be a real sell out n above all a square to be on ESPN nowadays. Used to love that show."

There was no beating around the bush here. Wilson's response was a direct reply to First Take's official account posting Smith's 3-plus minutes of Jets slander. Moreover, the 2022 Rookie of the Year even tagged Elon Musk, the owner of X, to keep the anti-Gang Green content on his feed.

Where are comments like this about the Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns, and Arizona Cardinals, to name a few squads? There are so many other clubs in turmoil that could very well be eyeing Moore, though Smith isn't making the same argument for them.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to recognize that the inaugural campaign of the Darren Mougey-Aaron Glenn era went about as poorly as possible. But isolating the Jets as a "football atrocity" and trying to deter Moore, or anyone, from joining the Jets feels like rage bait.

Smith got exactly what he wanted, too, by riling up the masses, including Wilson.

Nevertheless, this ostensibly won't be the last we hear about this brewing public saga. Smith saw Wilson's tweets and confirmed he'll be addressing them on air, so buckle up!
