Former NY Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore did not exactly endear himself to fans during a very brief two-season stint with the team, and he could be a thorn in this team's side once again after signing with the Buffalo Bills in free agency.
Moore was taken with the second pick of the second round in the 2021 NFL Draft with the thought that he could become Zach Wilson's top target for years to come. Both of those prospects managed to flame out, though Moore seemed to have more self-destruction wrapped up in his exit story.
Moore's trade request at a time when the Jets were riding high in 2022 led him to the Cleveland Browns, who didn't give him the production bump he cares so much about. Moore has now officially found himself in Buffalo, which has given him the platform to take some shots at his former employer.
Moore said that he "didn't have too many great opportunities with a stable QB" in his career before joining Buffalo, only slightly exaggerating that he has had five different names under center every year he has been in the league.
Elijah Moore takes shot at Jets QBs after joining Bills
Moore is right to be a bit frustrated. His quarterback situation has been a nightmare every single year, and he has missed the playoffs in three of his first four seasons. Joining Josh Allen off an MVP season could be what finally turns him into the star that everyone thought he would be when he was drafted.
However, Moore himself is a limited player who doesn't have the same level of YAC skill the Jets and Browns thought he would show off. There's a reason Moore has never topped more than 700 yards in a season despite very rarely having tons of competition for targets.
The worst part of this signing for Jets fans is that Moore will likely have the last laugh. Moore will join a Bills team that will be projected by many to make it to the Super Bowl, while the Jets are likely in line for what would be their 15th straight season without a playoff appearance.
Moore is not a person many Jets fans will look back on fondly due to how he conducted himself in New York, and he is likely going to make himself an even bigger villain after he touches down in Buffalo.
