This offseason has been somewhat of a resurgence for former New York Jets figures, and the latest to make his NFL comeback is ex-general manager Mike Maccagnan.
After being out of the NFL for the last seven seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles hired Maccagnan as a personnel executive, according to their X account. It's the first position he's held in an NFL front office since getting fired in 2019.
Despite being voted as executive of the year in 2015, Maccagnan never quite found his footing in New York after a 10-6 record in his first season at the helm. His draft classes always left a lot to be desired, and towards the end of his tenure, he became a bit of a reckless spender.
Regardless, the Eagles clearly believe his time out of the league has refined his player evaluation skills, and he's getting his first shot in the NFL since 2019.
Mike Maccagnan latest ex-Jets figure to land a new job in 2026
The 2026 offseason has been quite the whirlwind for Jets fans. They've seen familiar faces land jobs left and right, whether it be a member of the front office or a former coach.
In the coaching ranks, several former Jets staff members have landed multiple gigs across the league. Former head coach Adam Gase is the Los Angeles Chargers' passing game coordinator, despite having been out of the league since being fired in 2020.
Former offensive coordinators Mike LaFleur and Nathaniel Hackett have teamed up with the Arizona Cardinals, serving as the head coach and offensive coordinator, respectively. LaFleur made a lot of sense, considering his ties to the Sean McVay coaching tree, but Hackett? That's a head-scratcher.
Aaron Rodgers' hand-picked offensive coordinator spearheaded some of the worst offenses in the league in New York, particularly in 2023. It remains to be seen just what kind of responsibilities he has in Arizona.
Finally, former head coach Robert Saleh is getting his second chance with the Tennessee Titans, after a year rehabilitating under Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco. We'll see if he learned from the mistakes that led to his abrupt exit in 2024.
Funnily enough, the Eagles now have two former Jets general managers working in their front office with Maccagnan and Joe Douglas. We'll see if they fare any better in Philadelphia than they did in New York.
