The New York Jets were the most active sellers at the trade deadline. The Jets were expected to trade players on Tuesday, especially those on expiring deals. But no one could have expected the blockbusters they decided to make.
First up, the Jets shockingly traded superstar cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts after receiving 2026 and 2027 first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. Later on in the day, the Jets also dealt defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith.
These moves stunned the football world. The Jets were expected to trade the likes of defensive end Jermaine Johnson II and running back Breece Hall, not Gardner or Williams.
Hall reacted to the news throughout the day after the Gardner and Williams trades. But once the 4:00 p.m. ET cutoff, Hall sent one final message.
"Sick about my bruddas man," said Hall in a since-deleted post. "Happy for them but man I'm sick rn."

Hall is happy that Gardner and Williams are in better situations than the Jets, who sit at 1-7. Gardner joins a 7-2 Colts team that could very well make a deep playoff run this year. Williams is on a 3-5-1 Cowboys team, but there's a chance they could sneak into the playoffs.
As for Hall, he is staying put on the Jets despite being in the final year of his rookie contract. Given there was expected to be a sizable market for running backs, Hall made sense as a potential option. Ultimately, the Jets didn't receive a package they deemed acceptable to make the trade.
After the Gardner and Williams trades, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Hall had requested a trade and that he "wants to be out." This news arrived around an hour before the 4:00 p.m. ET cutoff.
Considering Hall wanted out, one has to wonder if this will be his final season with the Jets. Once the campaign ends, Hall will become an unrestricted free agent. Would he want to re-sign with the Jets on a new contract?
So far this season, Hall has recorded 581 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 117 carries, while also catching 21-of-30 targets for 178 yards.
Hall is going to miss Gardner and Williams on the Jets. But after requesting a trade, Hall is staying put for the rest of the season. From there, it's anyone's guess what the future holds for Hall.
