The New York Jets opened up their preseason with a dominant 30-10 win over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night. It was a good first impression for many on this new-look Jets team, headlined by head coach Aaron Glenn.
One of the most impressive position groups for New York on Saturday was the performance from the offensive line. Rookie right tackle Armand Membou, a key piece up front, made his first NFL test look easy.
Membou didn't allow a single pressure or sack in 10 pass-blocking snaps. The rookie also logged a 70.7 Pro Football Focus grade and an impressive 77.9 pass-blocking grade.
Membou wasn't just productive as a pass-blocker, but he also stood out as a run blocker. The Jets, led by their offensive line, rushed for 147 yards.

Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey could have gone in a few different directions with the seventh overall pick. Ultimately, the new regime went with the right tackle out of Missouri, which wasn't the flashy pick, but it was the right pick.
In three seasons at Missouri, Membou started 25 games at right tackle, making it an even more obvious selection as the Jets' last hole on the offensive line came at the position.
In 411 pass-blocking snaps during the 2024 season, Membou didn't allow a single pressure or sack while only surrendering eight QB hurries. This was good enough for Membou to finish with an 86.6 pass blocking grade.
The Missouri product also stood out against the run, finishing the season with an 87.6 run blocking grade, which made him just one of two offensive tackles in college football to finish with an 85+ grade in both pass and run blocking.
Membou's 90.6 overall grade was also good enough to put him 3rd among all FBS offensive tackles last season.
Another area of Membou's game that stands out is his athleticism. The 21-year-old shined at the NFL Combine, posting a 4.91 40-yard dash, which was the first among offensive tackle prospects. It was also the fastest time recorded by an offensive lineman who is at least 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds since 2003.
Membou's strong Combine and athleticism continued to showcase itself when he tallied a 9'7" broad jump and a 34-inch vertical. His broad jump was first among all offensive line prospects, and the 34-inch vertical made him just one of four offensive line prospects in combine history to surpass a 30-inch vertical and sub-5.0 40-yard dash.
It's safe to say Membou projects well for this Jets offensive line in 2025 and beyond. The rookies' play style aligns perfectly with what Aaron Glenn is trying to build in Florham Park, and the hope is the Jets have their two bookend tackles with Membou and Olu Fashanu for a very long time.
