There you have it.

For weeks now, the critics and naysayers have been running rampant on New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn. It's only his first year on the job, but with how the team has performed, some have wondered whether or not he will be fired after just one season.

While it seems quite unfair on one hand, the fact that this team has underperformed in such a gross manner is reason enough to at least have the conversation.

In one of his latest podcast episodes, though, ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter discussed the topic at hand. Schefter talked about Glenn's future, along with general manager Darren Mougey, in light of the recent fire sale that saw New York trade both cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

“Listen, I think when the GM makes these moves, they’re (Glenn and Mougey) going to be there. And Aaron Glenn, I don’t think the Jets were ever changing him out anyway," he said.

Schefter went on to discuss the philosophy of Woody Johnson with respect to this season and the trade deadline moves.

"It was never going to be one and done… the Jets are showing that they are dedicated to building for the future and they’re going to give these guys time and a chance to do that."

Well, there you have it. For Jets fans who were worried that maybe Glenn wouldn't have gotten his fair shot, Schefter just gave you the confidence you needed. And, it makes a ton of sense. Glenn is highly respected and came into a complete nightmare of a roster.

The Jets were always headed for a rebuild, whether or not that included Gardner and/or Williams. The most important position in football is one that this organization still can't figure out, and, no disrespect to Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor, but we knew that neither one of them would be a sure-fire solution.

On his episode, Schefter also discussed the fact that this team has set itself up with five first-round picks over the next two drafts. They have obviously entered the "arms race" for a quarterback, as Schefter called it.

Glenn is going to be there to help guide the process, too, from the sound of it. Jets fans shouldn't expect him to be going anywhere.
