Aaron Rodgers couldn’t resist twisting the knife. After leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to a Week 1 win over the New York Jets in his MetLife return, the veteran quarterback delivered one of his harshest quotes yet about his former team.

Rodgers was asked by reporters about how he felt after getting revenge on both the Jets and new head coach Aaron Glenn, whom he previously took shots at earlier in the offseason, and he predictably didn't hold back.

Rodgers told reporters that he was "happy to beat everyone associated with the Jets." He didn't specifically mention Glenn or anyone else by name, but it was clear that Rodgers wasn't happy with how his exit unfolded.

The Steelers scored 34 points on an overwhelmed Jets defense, as Rodgers completed 22-of-30 passes for 244 yards, four touchdowns, and notably zero turnovers. He did everything he could to make the Jets regret moving on, and his postgame comment is proof that the thought was in his mind.

Rodgers’ two-year stint in New York was nothing short of disastrous. He arrived as the supposed savior in 2023, only to tear his Achilles four snaps into the season.

By the time he returned in 2024, his play was serviceable but uninspiring, and the Jets limped to just five wins in what was one of the most embarrassing seasons in recent franchise memory — and that's saying a lot.

Rodgers dominated headlines with his weekly appearances on The Pat McAfee Show, criticized the Jets publicly on multiple occasions, and even flirted with the idea of a vice-presidential run in the middle of the offseason. What was supposed to be a fresh start turned into a never-ending sideshow.

The final straw apparently came in his exit interview with Glenn and the Jets. Rodgers had already blasted the organization earlier in the offseason for how things were handled, and he made it clear he still harbored plenty of ill will toward Glenn and the front office.

The Jets ultimately cut ties with Rodgers and turned to former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields as his replacement. To his credit, Fields looked excellent in his Jets debut, and the team hardly seems to regret moving on from Rodgers.

If there was ever any doubt about how Rodgers truly felt about his time in New York, Sunday erased it. The boos at MetLife were loud, but his postgame words were somehow louder, and they left no question that the Jets and Rodgers are done with each other for good.
