Aaron Rodgers isn’t holding back.
In his first public comments since being released by the New York Jets, the four-time MVP wasted no time firing a shot at his former team, and more specifically, new head coach Aaron Glenn.
Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, Rodgers detailed what he described as a confusing and frustrating exit from the organization, saying he flew across the country “on [his] own dime,” expecting a real conversation about his future."
Instead, according to Rodgers, Glenn abruptly left their meeting, returned moments later with general manager Darren Mougey, and delivered a 20-second message that the team was “going in another direction.” Rodgers expressed frustration that the Jets didn’t simply inform him of the decision over the phone.
The former Jets quarterback seemed genuinely stunned by how things ended, and based on his tone, he hasn’t let it go. Rodgers is fuming.
Aaron Rodgers slams Aaron Glenn and NY Jets on The Pat McAfee Show
The Jets officially made the decision to move on from Rodgers after two years with the organization earlier this offseason. Based on Rodgers' comments, it appears the decision was an easy one for Glenn and Mougey.
Rodgers continued to bash the Jets throughout the duration of his interview with McAfee, insisting that the new regime didn't show him respect in their final meeting.
"I felt there wasn’t an ample amount of respect in that meeting. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised based on some things I saw over two years."Aaron Rodgers
While Rodgers had kind words for Christopher Johnson, the brother of Jets owner Woody Johnson, he didn’t hold back when it came to the rest of the organization, with much of his criticism seemingly aimed at head coach Aaron Glenn.
Rodgers may have intended to call out the Jets, but all he really did was reveal how out of touch he seems with the current state of the team. While he expected a warm welcome and drawn-out conversation, the Jets had already turned the page.
The new regime didn’t owe Rodgers anything more than honesty — and that’s exactly what he got.
From the Jets’ perspective, this latest outburst only reinforces why they were ready to move on. Rodgers continues to view the Jets through the rearview mirror, while the organization has clearly shifted its focus to what lies ahead.
His reaction feels less like justified frustration and more like sour grapes.
