Aaron Rodgers blames media for NY Jets struggles in familiar postgame rant

The NY Jets lost their fourth consecutive game on Sunday night, falling well short in a 37-15 beatdown at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers on primetime. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets weren't good enough, and as a result, their season is on life support before we've even reached Halloween.

There are ample issues to blame for the Jets' abysmal 2-5 start to the season. Rodgers just played his worst game as a member of the Jets. The offense continues to find ways to undermine their own efforts. The defense is a shell of its 2023 self.

However, in typical Aaron Rodgers fashion, the Jets' quarterback still found a way to place the blame on external factors. And again in a classic Rodgers move, he pointed the finger at the media.

Rodgers spoke to reporters following yet another Jets loss on Sunday night and was asked what the Jets need to do to keep hope alive this season. Before the reporter could even finish their question, Rodgers interrupted with a succinct "Stop listening to you guys."

Yes, I'm sure that's the issue. The media is at fault for Rodgers leading the NFL with eight interceptions. The media is to blame for the undisciplined mess of a product the Jets put out every week — astute observation as usual.

Aaron Rodgers can't help but point the finger at others

To Rodgers' credit, he would take personal accountability in the same quote, insisting that he and the entire team need to play better, but that, of course, wasn't before he blamed the media for, well, no one really knows what exactly.

Rodgers appeared irritated and defeated as he stood at the podium on Sunday night following his team's fourth consecutive loss. The Jets have won just two games this season, both coming against teams that are currently 1-5 on the year.

It's becoming increasingly apparent that the ever-present media attention is beginning to annoy Rodgers, whose performance in Week 7 was one of the biggest reasons his team lost.

Rodgers has played at a fine level for most of the season, but despite his passable box-score numbers, the four-time MVP was a mess on Sunday night. His ball placement was off and he appeared hesitant to throw the ball more than five yards down the field.

The Jets are 2-5 because they're a bad football team. They're 2-5 because they have an aging, declining quarterback with an overhyped defense and an offensive that can't get out of its own way. That's not on the media — that's on the Jets. That's on Aaron Rodgers.
