The New York Jets focused on the offensive side of the ball with their first two selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, using their first-round pick on Missouri right tackle Armand Membou and their second-rounder on LSU tight end Mason Taylor. Aaron Glenn finally got his defensive playmaker in the third round.
With the No. 73 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Florida State cornerback Azareye'h Thomas. While some fans might be a bit confused with this selection after giving Brandon Stephens a big contract in free agency and refusing to spend on wide receivers on the open market.

Thomas, who didn't allow a single touchdown last season, is just 20 years old, suggesting that his best days are ahead of him. Glenn has proven to be a terrific developer of defensive back talent, which makes the Jets a solid landing spot for a player with his skillset.
Thomas has tremendous length at 6-2 and nearly 200 pounds, and he has proven to be one of the better corners in this call at both jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage and
Assuming that Thomas will eventually wiggle his way into the starting lineup, he could join Sauce Gardner and Michael Carter II in a secondary that once again strikes fear into the hearts and opposing cornerbacks. Stephens' versatility and Andre Cisco's coverage ability should be huge boosts to this secondary.
While there are some fans who wanted the Jets to add a wide receiver in this spot, Thomas could be the best possible scheme fit for Glenn's defense. If he hits his full potential, Thomas has the ability to become one of the biggest steals in this entire Draft.
