6 unproven Jets who can earn the fanbase's trust in Week 2 vs. Packers

The New York Jets face a daunting challenge as they try to move to 2-0 in 2026 against the Green Bay Packers, as they will likely not afford them the same level of grace that Robert Saleh's Tennessee Titans did in their Week 1 defeat.

The Jets are facing the Packers as a beat-up roster who has some very clear and exploitable holes, and Green Bay will be out for blood after an embarrassing Week 1 choke against the Minnesota Vikings.

These six players still haven't done as much as they could solidify themselves as high-end playmakers in the Jets' current ecosystem. If they end up starring against Green Bay and move to 2-0 on the season, they could prove to be big parts of the solution that gets this team turned around.

6. RB Braelon Allen

Allen had one of the best games of his career against the Titans, but fans have seen good individual games from him in the past. With what promises to be a rainy, mucky day at MetLife Stadium against a Packers defensive line that does not have Micah Parsons, the stage is set for Allen to show fans that he can be a vital part of the offense in 2026.

5. S Andre Cisco

Cisco was very poor in 2025, and he will likely be pushed back into the starting lineup with Minkah Fitzpatrick in line to miss this game. What better shot to prove he belongs in the Jets' plans for 2026 than by possibly causing a big turnover against a Packers offense that shot themselves in the foot against the Vikings?

4. EDGE Kingsley Enagbare

Enagbare did record a sack in his Jets debut, continuing what has been a strong summer for him. If he manages to replicate his Week 1 performance against a very beatable Packers offensive line, his revenge game might be enough to ensure he gets a good deal of snaps when Joseph Ossai returns to the defensive line rotation.

3. CB Azareye'h Thomas

Thomas gave up just four catches for 29 yards last week, though one of them was an 11-yard touchdown that came with the Jets up 23-3 in the fourth quarter. Green Bay's stable of pass catchers are not only much deeper than the Titans' group, but they are much faster too. Can Thomas hold up despite lacking great speed?

2. TE Mason Taylor

If there was one player who could be deemed to have genuinely struggled against the Titans, it would be Taylor, who had a massive -2 yards receiving on two catches and dropped a pass that could have been a fumble in Jets territory. With Omar Cooper Jr. on the mend, Taylor will be counted on.

1. CB D'Angelo Ponds

Ponds may make his NFL debut against Green Bay, and he may get thrown into the deep end of the pool as he prepares for a Packers passing attack that can throw three or four high-end options at any defense. Ponds will need to show he can be as sticky in the pros as he was in college for the Jets to have a shot at slowing this Jordan Love-led attack.
