Davante Adams has played his final game as a member of the NY Jets. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that the Jets are now taking calls on the former All-Pro wide receiver and are hoping to find a trade partner prior to the start of the new league year later this month.

If the Jets can't find a trade partner for Adams, the expectation is that he will be released. The team has no intention of keeping him at his $38.2 million cap hit, and with Aaron Rodgers gone, Adams likely has little interest in staying in New York.

It might be difficult to find a willing party to take on Adams, given that the Jets will almost certainly release him if they're unable to trade him. Combine that with the fact that his new team would have to completely redo his new contract, and it's a tough sell.

If the Jets are going to trade Adams, however, there are a few teams that make the most sense. Let's take a look at four potential landing spots for Adams in a trade.

Davante Adams trade destinations

New York Giants

The New York Giants stand out as the most logical trade partner for the Jets in an Adams deal, largely because they’re reportedly interested in acquiring Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback for 2025.

The Giants reportedly have their eyes on a veteran quarterback — possibly to pair with a rookie in the draft — and Rodgers appears to be near the top of their list. If Rodgers goes to the Jets' cross-town rivals, you can assume Adams will follow him.

Malik Nabers is a dynamic young receiver, but the Giants could still use another high-end playmaker on offense. If they’re intent on following the Jets' blueprint (for whatever reason), pairing Aaron Rodgers with Davante Adams would be a logical move.

Los Angeles Chargers

It's tough to find potential landing spots for Rodgers in 2025, but there are plenty of teams that will be interested in Adams if he doesn't come with Rodgers as a package deal. One such team that makes sense is the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers have been connected to various wide receiver trade rumors in recent years and could use a veteran wideout to add to their young and largely lackluster receiver room.

Ladd McConkey is an excellent young piece in any offense, but he doesn't project as a true No. 1 wide receiver. Quentin Johnston has been a disappointment through two seasons, and the likes of Joshua Palmer and Simi Fehoko don't exactly strike fear into defenses. Adams would be a huge get for Los Angeles.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers might not ever find his way back to Green Bay, but there's a world where a Davante Adams return to the Packers makes plenty of sense. Packers players have even flirted with the team about bringing the six-time Pro Bowler back to Wisconsin.

The Packers have an exciting young wide receiver room, but no one has managed to separate from the pack as a true No. 1 wideout, and there are injury concerns. Christian Watson's injury history has been well-documented, and Romeo Doubs suffered multiple head injuries in 2024.

Adams would give Jordan Love a new top target in Green Bay's offense and provide much-needed reliability to a wide receiver room with question marks entering 2025. The story writes itself.

Pittsburgh Steelers

It wouldn't be a wide receiver trade story without mentioning the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have been connected to seemingly every available wide receiver in recent years and were most notably in hot pursuit of Brandon Aiyuk this past summer.

Pittsburgh remains in the market for wide receiver help this offseason, especially with George Pickens' future uncertain. Adding Adams would be a huge boost for a Steelers team that still doesn’t have a clear answer at quarterback for next season.

Maybe that quarterback is Aaron Rodgers, and maybe he pushes to bring his longtime teammate with him. Either way, Adams is a very realistic target for the Steelers.
