The New York Jets hit a home run with their 2025 first-round pick, landing right tackle Armand Membou at No. 7 overall.

Membou was a steal with the seventh pick in the draft, considering he was arguably the best offensive lineman in the entire class. He certainly played better than New England Patriots offensive tackle Will Campbell, who was selected three spots in front of him.

In a redraft of the 2025 NFL Draft, would the Jets still be able to land their hopeful cornerstone at tight tackle? According to The Athletic, no, they wouldn't. He was good enough to be the first non-quarterback off the board, going No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns.

In that scenario, which direction do the Jets go? What standout rookies from this past season could they grab at No. 7 overall?

2025 NFL Draft redraft sees Jets grab Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter

In Nick Baumgardner's redo of the 2025 NFL Draft, he has the Jets grabbing New York Giants pass rusher Abdul Carter at No. 7. With the Browns grabbing Membou at No. 2, and the Giants retroactively getting quarterback Jaxson Dart at No. 3, Carter is the best choice for the Jets.

"The Jets and the Giants wound up doing pretty well early last season, all things considered. Carter led all rookies in pressures (66), QB hits (18) and hurries (43). And even though his sack total could’ve been higher, it’s important to remember the coming season will be just his third as a full-time edge defender. Stock up."

New York certainly could've used some help off the edge last season. Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson had middling seasons, and the team finished with the 31st-least sacks in the league in 2025.

Carter didn't necessarily stuff the stat sheet with sacks in 2025, but he did have a presence for the Giants, and that's a bit more than you can say for the aforementioned Jets pass rushers.

The Penn State product graded out as the 29th-best edge rusher in the NFL last, according to Pro Football Focus out of 115 qualified players. Not bad for a rookie.

Despite losing Membou, Carter is a great consolation prize and addresses a major need the Jets still have heading into the 2026 NFL Draft. Not a bad outcome for New York, which did pretty well in the first round of last year's draft.
