Round 5, 175th Overall, NY Jets: Jason Pinnock, CB, Pittsburgh

The second of three cornerbacks selected by the Jets in this draft, Jason Pinnock will look to follow in the footsteps of the last great Pittsburgh cornerback the Jets drafted.

Pinnock has ideal size for the position at 6-foot, 204 pounds and he’s also an above-average athlete. But his lapses in coverage were far too frequent at Pittsburgh making him little more than a developmental project.

This is another case of a reach by the Jets as Pinnock was projected by most to go undrafted. Perhaps someone like Shemar Jean-Charles or Rodarius Williams could have been better if they wanted to go the cornerback route again.

Once more, it’s far too early to judge every pick. But Pinnock feels like another Day 3 reach for the Jets.
