Round 5, 154th Overall, NY Jets: Michael Carter II, CB/S, Duke

The Jets made another interesting selection a few picks later in Duke’s Michael Carter II. The second Michael Carter of their draft class, the Duke product is undersized but is tough and versatile.

Carter was among three cornerbacks the Jets selected on Day 3 of the draft, but projecting his role on the roster might be the most difficult. His size will likely limit him to the slot, but does that mean the Jets see him as their potential nickel corner of the future?

Javelin Guidry showed promise in 2020 and the Jets could still bring back Brian Poole in free agency. What role will Carter have in his rookie season and where does he project going forward?

Those are the questions the Jets will have to answer in the future. But for now, this was a little bit of a reach with more talented players still on the board.

The jury is still out.
