Round 2, 34th Overall, NY Jets: Ronnie Perkins, DE, Oklahoma
Ronnie Perkins could be that John Abraham-ish edge-rushing terror lacking in East Rutherford since the Bush administration. He opposite Carl Lawson would inflict damage.
The Jets have also met with Washington edge Joe Tryon. Most exciting are raw Day 3 options with huge NFL upsides such as Elerson Smith (Northern Iowa) and Janarius Robinson (Florida State).
Round 3, 66th Overall, NY Jets: Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, USC
The younger brother of Green Bay Packers’ receiver Equanimeous St. Brown comes equipped with the skillset and the mindset of a premier NFL receiver.
If the Trojan product gets selected earlier, exciting late Day 2 or early Day 3 talent include Tylan Williams (Oklahoma State), Nico Collins (Michigan), Anthony Schwartz (Auburn), and Josh Imatorbhebhe (Illinois).
Round 3, 86th Overall, NY Jets: Kendrick Green, OG/C, Illinois
Kendrick Green started at guard as a freshman and two years later was first-team All-Big Ten with nothing to prove — he projects as a plug-and-play starter.
Other options include Aaron Banks (Notre Dame) or Day 3 man-mountains Calvin Ashley (Florida A&M) and Larnel Coleman (UMass). If they go raw tackle, see Spencer Brown (Northern Iowa), D’Ante Smith (East Carolina), or James Hudson (Cincinnati).
