The NY Jets have placed three players on injured reserve amidst other moves.

The NY Jets made a flurry of roster moves on Saturday in preparation for their Week 14 game against the Seattle Seahawks. And that included a pair of starters landing on injured reserve.

The Jets announced that they had placed safety Ashtyn Davis, right guard Greg Van Roten, and safety Bennett Jackson on IR. They also officially activated both cornerback Blessuan Austin and tight end Trevon Wesco off injured reserve.

Davis, Van Roten, and Jackson were all injured last week in the team’s Week 13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Davis left early with a foot injury while Van Roten exited after hurting his toe.

With only four games remaining in the season, it’s very likely that all three of Davis, Van Roten, and Jackson are done for the year. In theory, they will be eligible to return for Week 17, but it remains to be seen if the Jets opt to do that.

Matthias Farley will slide into the starting lineup with Davis out to start alongside Marcus Maye. Meanwhile, it will likely be Josh Andrews who starts at right guard in place of Van Roten.

The Jets are already without starting left guard Alex Lewis who is on the non-football injury list and his replacement, Pat Elflein, is questionable this week with a shoulder injury. Perhaps we could see some of rookie Cameron Clark as well.

The NY Jets made a handful of practice squad moves as well

The Jets also announced that they had signed both wide receiver Lawrence Cager and safety Saquan Hampton off their practice squad. On top of that, they have elevated linebacker Noah Dawkins and wide receiver, Jaleel Scott, from the practice squad for this week.

Cager and Scott give the team additional wide receiver depth with Denzel Mims out and Jamison Crowder questionable for this week’s game. Cager saw time at receiver earlier in the year and could be in-line for some snaps this week.

Meanwhile, Hampton provides some extra assurance at safety with both Davis and Jackson sidelined. The Jets signed former Florida Tech standout J.T. Hassell yesterday and now Hampton joins him on the active roster.

The Jets are beat up going into this Week 14 game which should make an already-challenging matchup even more lopsided.
