The NY Jets sit at a lowly 0-8 ahead of their Week 9 matchup with the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football trying to avoid making history.

Only once in franchise history have the Jets began a season with eight straight losses, the infamous 1996 campaign that resulted in a 1-15 finish. Never before have the Jets started a season with an 0-9 record.

Unfortunately, they once again enter this week’s game as massive betting underdogs.

That’s despite the fact that they will be playing host to a Patriots team that has lost its last four games and hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in three weeks. But that’s just how bad the Jets have been.

Playing in this game without Sam Darnold and Quinnen Williams, the Jets will be down two of their most important players. Darnold has certainly had his struggles this season, but his backup, Joe Flacco, has been even worse.

It’s the Monday night showdown that nobody asked for between Joe Flacco and Cam Newton. Perhaps that would have been an interesting matchup five years ago, but in 2020, it isn’t exactly enticing.

Will the Jets get revenge for last season’s Monday night embarrassment or will the Patriots snap their four-game losing streak and climb back into playoff contention?
