The New York Jets put on an absolute clinic in their 34-3 drumming of the Oakland Raiders as the team notched their third consecutive victory.

It’s been a weird season for the New York Jets, and that season just got even weirder following an absolute demolition of the Oakland Raiders by a final score of 34-3.

The Jets are now riding a three-game win streak behind an offense that has looked like one of the better units in the league. And given that they were quite literally the worst offense by seemingly every metric over the first half of the season, that’s also quite odd.

In fact, the Jets have now scored exactly 34 points in each of their last three games and have led by 30 or more in each of their last two games — something that has never been done before in Jets history.

That’s right, an Adam Gase-led offense is leading the Jets to one of their most prolific offensive stretches in team history.

There’s not a soul that could have predicted that this would happen after the Jets fell to 1-7 following a loss to the previously winless Miami Dolphins.

Quarterback Sam Darnold has taken command of the offense and has looked like a completely different player than he did during his rough midseason stretch. Darnold finished Sunday’s game 20-of-29 from the air for 315 yards and three total touchdowns.

The USC product looked sharp and confident when passing the ball. And most importantly, he shied away from any dangerous passes opting to throw the ball away when under pressure on numerous occasions.

He’s gained his confidence back. He’s got his winning swagger again.

Head coach Adam Gase called another fantastic game with this one likely being his best with the Jets. After weeks and weeks of miserable gameplans met with faulty execution, the Jets offense has come alive.

A reverse, toss-back to Darnold and a throw-back screen to Ryan Griffin were just two instances of Gase running circles around Paul Guenther and the Raiders defensive coaching staff.

Oakland was more than outplayed on Sunday. They were wholly outcoached.

And on defense, Gregg Williams’ unit continues to be one of the most consistently excellent units in the NFL which is incredible considering the players they’re throwing out there.

Folorunso Fatukasi and the defensive line look like All-Pros, James Burgess and Neville Hewitt look like Pro Bowlers, and Blessuan Austin and Arthur Maulet look like shutdown cornerbacks.

Of course, it never hurts to have Jamal Adams who tallied another half-sack in this one and is playing the best football of his career.

The bottom line is that this team is incredibly fun to watch right now. Who cares about the postseason and who cares about draft position. The Jets are winning games and their franchise quarterback is lighting up the scoreboard.

And out of seemingly nowhere, maybe, just maybe, the Jets have found the coach to lead them into the future.

It’s still very plausible that the Jets finish somewhere around 7-9 which would be incredibly encouraging given their 1-7 record just a few weeks ago. It’s important not to get ahead of ourselves here, but one thing is for sure.
